New interactive sound piece "Kite" is opening this

New interactive sound piece "Kite" is opening this Saturday @ Fengtian Culture and History Center in Hualien, Taiwan.
This piece heavily incorporates the community of the village. The prints contain the collage artworks made by the local elderly, and the sounds are the recording of local people‘s stories and singing about home, as well as the ambient sounds of the environment.

There are 10 wood fired ceramic handles made from the clay of the local mountain and glazed mixed with local plants. Each of them then was made to be conductive so when people hold the handles the change of electricity will trigger sounds that compose a different soundscape.

We are pleased to share with you this fun and meaningful new work that is concentrated with so many perspectives from not only us, but also the community we are in.

Jon is busy recording the sounds with the new fancy recorder, and Hui is getting her hands dirty with the clay directly dug from the Coastal Mountain Range on the east Taiwan.

An interactive sound installation using the detectability of electricity, body, water, and salt to cascade existence. It explores the constant process of confirmation and reinforcement of spiritual sublimation, machinery and flesh, material and spirit.

The space comes to life when the viewers touch the water in the device that triggers sounds to compose a fluid dimension; A dimension that transcends time and space.
